Professor Bao Maohong visits La Trobe University

Professor Bao Maohong of History Department at Pecking University visited Australia on an exchange program organized between Peking University and  La Trobe University between August 3rd and 17th 2019, provoking a critical insight into environmental studies in the field of mining.

Dr Bao especially shared academic exchanges with Susan Lawrence, a professor of Archaeology and History at La Trobe University whose current research is on the environmental history of water use in the 19th century mining industry and the resultant pollution of rivers. The two scholars discussed over the ways in which mining extraction of gold, iron, coal has affected  on the current environment and its management system as well as the methodologies used to examine these aspects. They also discussed potential collaboration projects between the two universities.
